Passion Week

Well, it's the last Monday of March. We are finished sharing the study on Love from our Winter Bible Study Blog, March Madness has finally given way to the Final Four, and it's the week before Spring Break in our household! But more than all this, today marks the final Monday before we celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and King Jesus Christ...The One for whom this entire endeavor exists. This is not the week to fail to make Monday matter. Or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday, Friday, or Saturday... The foundation of our Faith is built upon events that took place this week, over 2000 years ago! What better way to celebrate these events than by passionate surrender? Don't be the one who says, "I'll thank Him for what He's done, but I won't follow His example!"

"Do you know what Paul meant when he spoke of being the least of all saints/apostles?  I believe he meant that because of the work of the ministry, he was nothing.  I believe that he had taken on God’s will so much so that his own earthly needs meant nothing to him anymore.  I believe that he became so empty to his own desires and ambitions, that he literally saw himself as nothing.  Nothing but an empty vessel to be used or abused for the ministry’s sake.  I can see the brokenness and humility in his life.  I can see the calling of a true evangelist : he has no agenda but God’s; all worldly goals placed aside; enduring whatever state the ministry brings him to, including imprisonments, loneliness, beatings, and eventually death.  But death could not bring fear or sadness by that time because he possessed nothing.  He claimed nothing.  He desired nothing but to fulfill the work and will of God.  I mean can you see what I’m saying?"

This same reality can be said of Christ. He was the originator of this lifestyle! Paul, and every saint that ever lived, took their queues on living passionately from Jesus. And at no other time in Christ's life on earth was this reality more evident than during the week of his crucifixion, death, and burial. 

If there is ever a time or season of the year for Christian Believers to embrace this same Christ-attitude, it is now. Now is the time to bring the passion of living for God with reckless abandon to the forefront of our every desire, attitude, action, and pursuit! Then we can truly say, at the end of every day, with the deepest hope and assurance..."To live is Christ, to die is gain, but Sunday's coming!!!"

Will you make His example your passion this week?? Will you make it your passion to forsake all for the sake of The One who gave all and died on the cross? Take one step each day!

Ideas on how to "live like that" daily:
Monday - Personally tell at least one person one on one about God's Love for them, and His plan of Salvation
Tuesday - Pray for those you shared with on Monday
Wednesday - Ask God to show you how you can show someone His Love for them ("For God so Loved the world that He gave...")
Thursday - Thankful Thursday.....Give thanks all day long! Look for and ask God for things you can be thankful for. Start with the gift of Salvation for which Christ died.
Friday - Schedule some "down time" over the weekend for family, friends, rest, and reflecting on all that God has done during the week
Saturday - Begin preparing your heart for corporate worship and fellowship. Be prepared to give as well as receive.
Sunday - Ask God to reveal areas of growth, and to give you grace to surrender to Him as you go into the new week
