"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." ~2 Tim. 1:7 (NKJV) ![]() Fear is a strong tactic used by Satan to keep Believers from peace, joy, bold living, obedience, using our Gifts, and taking risks for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Kingdom of God. Only one kind of fear comes from God, and that is the Fear OF GOD, and those he has placed in authority (i.e. reverence and respect). And yet The Body of Christ seems to be crippled as the years pass by fear of persecution and loss. So how do we practically live out 2 Timothy 1:7? One day while praying about how to minister this verse to my young daughter, God revealed to me how, once again, we must have a Grace walk in order to even overcome fear in our lives. By becoming more intimate with our Source, power, love, and a sound mind unfolds naturally; as naturally as a butterfly unfolds from its cocoon. He gave me the comparison of The Trinity to teach how we begin to live out these three traits. God The Father = Love: GOD IS LOVE! In order to see more Love manifested in our lives, we must get to know our Heavenly Father on a daily basis. We can do this best by reading about Him in the Old Testament. So read an Old Testament passage (specifically those that tell of His acts, His commands, or His promises) DAILY. God The Son = Power: More than anything else, while Jesus walked the earth, he walked in POWER! He took authority over every power of the enemy. He set the captives free, raised the dead, and opened blind eyes. He gave mankind HOPE that we would no longer have to be slaves to our sin, sickness, disease, and darkness. In order to see more power operating in our lives, we must become more like Christ on a daily basis. We can do this best by reading about Him in the four Gospels. So read a Gospel passage DAILY. God The Holy Spirit = A Sound Mind: Jesus promised that He would send us The Comforter, who would lead and guide us into all Truth. That is the definition of a Sound mind: comfort and truth! AND it is the primary job of Holy Spirit! By being led by Holy Spirit on a daily basis, we can be assured of always having a sound mind, free of confusion, doubt, worry, and FEAR! The way we become led by Holy Spirit is by prayerful reading, study, and meditation of God's Word (The Bible) and allowing Holy Spirit to encourage us in our strong areas, correct us in our weak areas, and direct us in our plans. Much of the meat of personal discipline is found in the Epistles. So read a passage in the Epistles DAILY. This is a big challenge for all of us, but my daughter and I have committed to do it together. Can't wait to see how it changes our lives! Tell us about your experience! Blessings, Dawn~ ~Pouring my life out in worship, like Costly Oil~ By Yolande Robinson ![]() In September 2013 I was profiled as a Woman Entrepreneur in the Business section of the COCO Magazine. This was an extreme honor for me. As a mom, wife and business owner I go about my everyday tasks and often do not slow down to assess or even notice personal and professional growth. My interview with Renee proved to be an extremely reflective process because it was at this time that I realized how much my mindset as an entrepreneur had grown over the last few years. The conception of the idea of Learn and Lead made me extremely nervous as I pondered whether it was a good idea or not. I looked for external validation and found following my gut to be rather nerve wrecking. Luckily, my husband was sold on the idea from the beginning, so this helped control the doubt and negative thoughts that can creep in and make you run away from a great idea or opportunity. We sat down and sketched out what we wanted our business to look like, made a business plan which included financial projections, made a logo and took steps towards building our vision. I was lucky that my husband and the others in my corner provided me with the support and the external validation that I needed at that time. Although I still do find myself needing external validation on some of the new projects I conceptualize, I find that I have come to trust myself more. Trusting yourself is extremely important when you are making a decision to step out and open your own business. You have to be the biggest believer in what it is you want to do. If you do not wholeheartedly believe in your vision, you are less likely to get others to believe in it. Your success depends greatly on your belief in your ability to succeed. So how do we get to the point of starting to trust ourselves as entrepreneurs? Although I say we need to learn to listen to our gut, if you are like me, you may need some additional convincing in order to believe your gut! One thing that has worked for me has been sketching out my ideas as exercises in critical thinking and problem solving. By doing this, you will take the time to work through your ideas and make your decisions based on more than just a gut feeling. Choosing to open your own business is a risk. However, when risks work out, they are usually extremely rewarding. The key is to ensure that it is a well calculated risk. Take your ideas and approach them as an exercise in critical thinking and problem solving. Work through a process of moving from the big picture to the finest details. By doing this, you can make an informed decision as to whether you are ready to make that move from your stable 9-5 job to running your own business. Here are a few tips to get you started in the process.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. ![]() Hello my friends! As I type this piece I am so in awe of how quickly this year is passing by. It seems like it was just January and we were creating resolutions, setting goals and getting our vision boards ready. We were preparing to make 2014 our most awesome year yet. Now we are 2 months into 2nd quarter...absolutely amazing! If you are like me you probably have been looking at your list of goals for the year and seeing how much progress you've made. If not then let's talk because it's time, as I say to "check-in and check-up." Have you lost the weight you've wanted to lose, have you saved the amount of money you wanted to save, are you close to getting that new job, car or house you wanted? Even more important have you improved your relationship with your significant other, mending that broken relationship with your friend, increased the time you spend with God to strengthen your relationship with him? These relationships are key and vital to accomplishing many of the other goals we have set for ourselves this year. I've talked before about operating in order. We cannot expect success and greatness when our priorities are jacked up. Often times the thing that holds us back from really reaching our goals is FEAR. Fear of change, fear of failing, fear of the unknown and sometimes fear of succeeding. On this day imagine yourself FREE! Free from the worries and stagnation that comes from FEAR. Make the choice today to "check-in and check-up" on the status of your relationship goals. Commit to doing the uncomfortable thing and make the necessary changes to make the things that are really important in your life matter! Until Next Time, Nikhol B.
