Assets
For those of us who work for an employer, at the end of the year we are often given a snap shot of our total annual wages. It's not uncommon for employees to only consider the net wages they have been paid as having value. That is the part we want to see increase and the part we protect with as much care and attention we can afford. But some employers, when recapping the wages paid to its employees, will also include the cost of the benefits paid on behalf of the employee. These benefits, over the course of a year can potentially double the look of an individual’s salary and wages.
For the insightful and the wise, it's always necessary to consider the total benefits of a situation, not only the cash pay out. The narrow-minded will certainly argue that money is the greatest asset in the world today. But even if the rest of us agree with this theory, it must be analyzed that any benefit, tool, or skill that can be used to either make money or save money is the SAME AS possessing money. It’s called an asset. Therefore, The people and things that help you generate and/or save money are valuable assets.
But what about the things that money can't buy like Love, peace, and joy? Your home may not be the biggest, but if it is filled with Love, you have a priceless asset. Your career may not be the best paying, but if it brings you joy, you have a great asset. If you have a relationship bathed in peace, you have a valuable asset indeed! Treat these as you would your income or bank account! Pay attention to them, protect them, and manage them well.

Deposits
When a person dies, society often want's to calculate their net worth, not realizing that life's "net worth" can not be measured solely by our material and financial gain. The deposits or contributions we make into the lives of others also increases our value in life and relationships.
I recently watched a video tribute to a deceased woman who was praised as beloved by many. Everything I saw of her life consisted of what she had gained materially. I never saw photo's highlighting her service and gifts to others, only her glamorous trek to "the top." This doesn't mean that she had not served or given much, but I felt sad that the only thing her friends and family chose to highlight about her life was her material gain.
Our GAIN is not the only measure of our true net worth, even in terms of Love, peace, and joy. Our ability and willingness to GIVE financially, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally into the lives of others speaks volumes about how large we are and have been in life.

If you look past the dollars and cents, you could find that you are wealthier than you think! You are the Love you give AND receive; you are the peace you partake of AND extend to others; you are the joy you share AND accept; your gifts and passions have value in EVERY sphere of life; your life holds more than a one dimensional "benefit"..... so LIVE LIKE IT!
