D~ ~Pouring my life out in worship, like Costly Oil~ Meet Karen Boyd-Williams...What Karen has to say about herself... I am a church girl, born and bred. I am a pastor’s kid (PK), raised on the south side of Chicago, who grew up knowing nothing but church. That had its benefits and its drawbacks, all of which I continue to learn as I grow older. But one important thing you should know about me is that I decided to have a relationship with God for myself. My parents could not and did not force that piece. God pricked my heart, letting me know that I could never be “perfect” or “ready” enough for Him without Him, that I was not “missing out” on anything by refusing to accept Him, that I could not continue to take advantage of His grace by assuming that I had more time to “sin” before I made that commitment, and a whole wealth of other things which I used as cheap excuses. I am sold out to God. I believe His Word. I believe there is nothing impossible for Him, nothing impossible with Him, and nothing impossible through Him. Call me a Bible thumper, a fanatic, or ridiculous–I’ve heard it all before–and it still won’t change how I feel about my Father. I personally love testimonies: they give me hope, inspiration, and new joy. So if I can help “just one somebody” (lol! Those are words to an old gospel song, for those of you who don’t know. Oh, and by the way, I think I’m funny too, lol!) by sharing my journey, including its bumps, bruises, and hiccups, then it is worth the transparency, and I believe that I am also helping to fulfill God’s purpose for my life. "Now thanks be unto God Who always causes us to triumph." ~II Corinthians 2:14 You can follow Karen and her writing at www.godspurposed.wordpress.com Please join us as we sing for our Sister friend... Nikhol lives in the Metro Atlanta area with her children and husband of 11 years. Nikhol is an inspiration and a true example of a Proverbs 31 Woman! Please join me as I humbly sing for my Sister friend and writing companion... ...this Girl is TRULY on FIRE!From a Flicker to a FLAMEI'm finding that our "Making Mondays Matter" moments together seem to come around quicker each month. What about you? Is it true that "time flies when you're having fun," or is it that we are so busy maneuvering this thing called life that we are just not cognizant of the days as we cross them off the calendar? This month is National Women's Month and I am so excited and looking forward to watching and reading all of the wonderful tributes to women and womanhood that will be presented this month. I have to wonder though in all that is to come, how much conversation will be shared on the importance of woman working together and maintaining healthy relationships. As women we wear many hats; some of us are wives, mothers, business and career women, sisters, friends and confidants. I've found that in addition to relationships with our significant others relationships with each other often seem to be those that are most taxing in our lives. Maneuvering through life as I mentioned earlier, means that we are going through our day to day lives, fulfilling obligations to all often times neglecting to live in the moment, stopping to "smell the roses." In the midst of the hustle and bustle we sometimes neglect to see the needs of others, especially other women. I hear it all the time from our own, "I don't like women, we just don't get along, we women are too emotional, everything is always a competition, women are so catty...etc., etc." We have so much power as women. If only we worked together in society and nurtured healthy, loving relationships with one another we would not only "run the world" but we could truly change this world for the better. This National Women's Month I challenge you to not only let your light shine and relish in your womanhood, but I invite you to breathe air onto another woman's small flicker and help her little light grow into a FLAME. Together we can sing “This Girl is On FIRE!!” Nikhol "Assisting Others on Their Journey Towards Peace, Healing & Recovery!" |
