"Do you think you can mess
with the dreams of the poor?
You can’t, for God
makes their dreams come true." ~Psalm 14:6 (MSG)
One writer wrote, "I have seen enough of my dreams become reality to cause me to keep dreaming..." So it has been in my life; but those dreams did not become reality by me laying down. They manifested by me walking and acting in pursuit of each and every one.
When people are afraid of dreaming, it is quite often, not the dream that they are afraid of. Most of us love to dream. Even children dream of doing the most outlandish escapades that their young minds can imagine. No, its not the dream we are usually afraid of. Its the crawling, taking the baby steps, falling often, the struggle to get back up, mustering the determination to walk, and frustration and humiliation that often accompanies the entire process required in order to see those dreams realized that keeps us stagnate.
If our heart could overcome the fear of risk, failure, and loss, we would do much more with our lives! The dream comes as naturally as sleeping; but the heart to take action comes only after it has been infused by the nature and power of God working in and through us.
If a slave woman could lead hundreds of fellow slaves to freedom; and if the will of an entire nation could be amended as the result one man's dream, then what's our excuse?
I once had the privilege of overhearing my son's basketball camp coach teach the students on "getting back up." He shared how Walter Payton became the greatest running back of all time by carrying the ball 4 yards at a time, getting knocked down, and saying to the quarterback "give me the ball again!"
Remember this truth when facing your giants that are designed to tackle and take you out. Obstacles are a part of becoming great. Take the hit, get back up, and tell The Lord, "give me the ball again!"
May you rebound from all your tackles today! Make MLK Monday Matter this year!
God Bless,
Dawn~
