On this very last day of National Women's Month, I would like to highlight none other than our very own R.E.A.L.* Moment Mondays writer, and the inspiration behind this month-long project to honor and celebrate our Girls on Fire, Mrs. Nikhol B. Jackson!
Nikhol is the founder of Just A Journey Counseling & Psychological Services, LLC, host of "The Healing Place" weekly internet radio show, and life coach in the areas of family development and relationship enrichment. Mrs. Jackson holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, and is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Counseling Psychology. She approaches her clients and radio show listeners from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model, with a belief that people can bring about change in their lives by first changing their thoughts and beliefs. Nikhol lives in the Metro Atlanta area with her children and husband of 11 years.

Favorite Quote, "I am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made..." | I have a few things to say about the first young lady I would like to introduce in our REAL March Madness Moments. I don't think anyone who knows me would say I am biased, but in this case I will concede my guilt. Kayla Thomas is my eldest daughter of whom I am proud beyond words! Two years ago, this month, she was a student at Columbus State University in a major that we both had discovered was a terrible fit for her, and neither of us knew where to go from there. She moved back home, and in two years has placed her focus squarely on Christ! She has since found a new passion that she is pursuing in University and through online certification, while also working part-time. Join me as I sing for my daughter... |

Yet her first mission is to encourage poetry from the hearts of all she meets. She intends to earn her master’s degree in poetry then teach and encourage poets at Paine College, Augusta’s HBCU. Dr. Lateshia Woodley empowers and motivates individuals to reach their full potential in all that they do. She has a heart for teen parents and thus has founded House of a Second Chance, a non-profit organization that not only offers services and resources to teen moms, but also provides transitional housing for the mothers and their infants as they transition into their new role as a parent. Dr. Woodley is also the founder of the Choose Life Scholarship Gala which is an annual fundraiser designed to raise funds for teenage parents who made the difficult choice to have their babies and yet still have the desire to further their education by attending college or vocational institutions. A native of South Georgia & former registered nurse with gerontology certification, Debbie Griffiths was founder & developer of Southern Pines, an innovative retirement community (home for 102 residents, employment for 70 staff) in her hometown. She is the Author of Little Lady, BIG DREAM, her autobiography that proves "life holds surprises for those who don't give up on their dreams." First edition LLBD was published in Summer of 2008 & Second edition published just recently, November 2013.
Though officially retired, Debbie finds her life busier than ever... Whether rafting her way down Wyoming's Snake River, donating her time to build youth shelters, or becoming the Executive Producer of a major motion picture, Debbie continues to pursue her BIG DREAMS. She is President of Perfect Vision Films, her own production company which was established in Fall of 2013 for the creation of Little Lady, BIG DREAM Movie. Brenda Allen is a Native New Yorker who transplanted to Chesapeake VA after having lived overseas for 16 years working as a civilian for the U.S. Air Force. She is a dedicated mom lovingly raising her beautiful 19 year old daughter, Donya. After being Mom, Brenda is a Project Manager and Contract Administrator for a private company; handling all of their US government contracts.
Brenda is also a very active volunteer and servant in her community, church, and workplace. Some places where she serves include: Member of her company's Community Services Committee, where she helps with charitable events and volunteering in the local Union Mission; volunteering in her company's Fun Bunch Committee, helping organize Morale Boosting Events and holiday parties; she volunteers in the Hospitality (aka Housepitality) and Porter's Ministries at her church where she is also the leader of the Singles' Ministry (aka Saved Overcoming Singles), and a member of the Women's Ministry. At home, she likes to think of herself as an amateur chef; always making meals for friends and co-workers, many times at their request.

Over the past 20 years she has been blessed with the opportunity to work in various arenas where she was exposed to many aspects of the financial spectrum. She has a passion to educate individuals on how to be good stewards over their finances, as well as equip them with strategies for staying out of debt!
