“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)
Maybe it's the word "surrender." We usually associate it with defeat, humiliation, and losing. Surrender literally means to stop fighting. Stop fighting with yourself. Stop fighting the universe and the natural flow of things. Stop resisting and pushing against reality. Our world never considers surrender a good thing. Fortunately for us, God is above this world, yet still intimately involved in it. Somewhere along the way, we got the wrong notion that things happen that even God has no control over. But that’s not true. He has control over ALL things. What we tend to forget is that He also gave us free will.
In our daily lives we have to be careful to make wise decisions and always remember that for every choice we make, there is always a consequence(s) that comes along with it (whether good or bad). Even when you make a bad decision that you thought was a good one at the time, it’s okay, you just have to be careful as to not let those bad decisions hold you captive. Surrender it. We all make mistakes. You must love yourself enough to let go.
We spend so much time focusing on what’s wrong that we often overlook what’s right. So let go of (surrender) the pain of your past, forgive those who hurt you, forgive yourself and choose to be a VICTOR and not a victim. It’s a new day and the beginning of a new week. So let go and give it to God, so that you may find rest…it’s time to walk into your season!
Once you let go…you’ll be amazed at the freedom of surrender! Besides, the energy of surrender accomplishes so much more than energy of control.
So let’s make this Monday matter because tomorrow is not promised.
