"But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day." ~Proverbs 4:18
Like millions across the globe, I ended 2014 with reflection. Here at Make Mondays Matter I shared my reflections on some of the top lessons I'd learn throughout the year. Today let me start our first blog of 2015 with a great lesson I've learned already.
In spite of all the positive motivation in the air, I know that there are still a great many among us who may be looking forward to 2015 with a sense of disappointment. You're in the game, making small moves, but not moving nearly as fast as you had hoped or expected. Be encouraged friend! You still have great reason for anticipation and excitement! It doesn't matter that you are making baby moves. What matters is that you are still in the game, and you still have moves left! Just like the dawning of the sun, which may appear to creep over the horizon when scrutinized, so will your day appear as you remain steadfast. Just keep taking those baby steps!
You know what else? It doesn't even matter that some of those steps may be in a backward direction. Sometimes progress involves taking a step back. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something small or unproductive in order to set up a game winning move. Sometimes you have to take a loss in order to make room for something that just won't fit into an already packed schedule, life, home, career, ministry. And that's ok! What matters is that taking these baby steps, or steps backward, is what ultimately keeps you moving forward. And anything that keeps you moving forward is reason for excitement!
Today is day five of 2015, and the number five is the number of Grace. Take this day not only to Make Monday Matter, but to give yourself a little Grace. Give yourself permission to be excited about the next step in store for 2015...no matter how small or in which direction. You have much to anticipate!
Blessings,
Dawn~
