Especially where business relationship choices are concerned, it is essential to be well acquainted with using the gift of discernment. Discernment will not only send red flags or green lights, but it will also go as far as revealing motives and character. Discernment is not the same as judging unjustly or judging based on stereotypes, expectations, or preferences. Discernment is different in that it is a gift of God that brings revelation and information that was not previously known or heard, and information that is often even unsuspected. It is supernatural, plain and simple; and, often can not be obtained from data readily available.
Recently (within the past two weeks), I have had three separate incidents that, had it not been for what was revealed by them, would have been considered nothing more than an insignificant occurrence in my day. But God has been dealing heavily with me about letting the gift of discernment guide me. It is something that I have resisted for a very long time, because I don't like to think that I am unjustly pre-judging a person or situation. But the closer I get to The Lord, the stronger and more evident my discernment has become, so that I cant ignore or debate it. Well, as far as those three incidents go, as insignificant as they started out, the responses of the parties involved was almost like a story being told [to me] of their entire character...and revealing [to me] that I should not be surprised by certain behaviors in our future dealings.
What God is now teaching me is that, in order to fully receive the promises/Vision in store, I must also be fully equipped. No carpenter can be fully functioning without a fully equipped tool belt. And he/she would never leave one tool out knowing that it is vital to his/her success. As with any spiritual gift, we (I) should never go into a business (or any) venture, without discernment. When it is revealed, let us seek wisdom about how to move forward or away, but never simply ignore what has been revealed. It is God's way of showing His blessing on our business/venture!
I am preparing myself for "greater things in 2013," so discernment must be at the top of the list for areas of growth. What about you???
