Now I know that the Lord rescues his anointed king.
He will answer him from his holy heaven
and rescue him by his great power. ~Psalm 20:6
I was talking to my 12yr old son today about his responsibility and privileges in prayer. I pray everyday about how to guide and nurture him, and am truly proud of how he has turned out thus far, but I've been more and more concerned recently about manhood as he ages. Today I realized that sometimes we give ourselves too much credit for what we do for others. As a young man with few males mentors, and quickly approaching puberty, he could easily go into a tailspin using the excuses we hear so often today, "my mother did the best she could but my father wasn't around!" This works most of the time as an out to fail. But who IS his father?? God created him and knows him better than even I who loves him more than any human, and has intimate knowledge of him like no one else. And if God created him, God can: help him like no one can; advise him when no one else can; teach him how to be a man like most men can't; show him how to navigate the waters of puberty because He created HIM and PUBERTY alike! With this mindset, he has no excuse to fail, but everything working in his favor to succeed!!! I need not be concerned for my son, nor do I need to have all the answers. I need only successfully teach him how to have a true relationship with The ONE who has all the answers, and is the SOURCE from whom ALL blessings flow!!!
The Lord is our source and HE rescues His people from Heaven on high! We have no need to be concerned with lack or loneliness. He has resources, servants, and strength to endure that we know not of! Trusting in Him ensures that even if those resources, people, and strength must come from the other side of the globe, or from a wild raven, we are never on our own. When you are on His side, HE ALONE is more than this world...and this flesh (discouragement, loneliness, persecution, sickness, poverty, and puberty -or in my case middle and old age)...against you!
NOW I know that God truly does answer and rescue His anointed by His great power!
