How to Come Before The King

"Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace,
in front of the king's hall"
~Esther 5:1 (NIV)
During my last blog, I spoke about knowing God versus having an experience with God. In the verse above, scripture references a young lady who knew what it meant to come before her king. She had been trained in his ways, habits, likes, dislikes, expectations, and proper etiquette. She also knew what was expected of her. Because she had endured the training process, and invested the time to KNOW her king, the end result of her unexpected "mission impossible" was a huge success. She received everything she asked for from the king!

What thoughts have you come up with to define what it means to really know God?? What lessons have you learned about what God's character is like, and how He reveals Himself to those who know Him? What disciplines and  attitudes reveal Who He is?

If you are having a hard time answering some of these questions, this new Online Ladies Bible Study could be what you are in need of. This study is from the Book of Esther, and shares with us the fundamental attitudes and disciplines that transformed Esther from a teenage foreigner, into a successful and well loved queen who saved her people, and knew her king well!

Join me as I join dozens of other women on this journey to learn How to Come Before the King, written and facilitated by Danielle Lynn. Throughout the study, I will be posting right here some of what God wants me to know about what it means and looks like to truly know Him.

The Bible study begins next Monday, September 14th. Go to www.ProvidentialLiving.com to register! See you at the feet of The King!!

Blessings,

Dawn~

What I learned in Week One about knowing God through the #online #Biblestudy, "How to Come Before The King," by Danielle Lynn.....

1. God desires to show His greatness and His glory through us, His chosen.
2. Letting God's greatness and glory be revealed through us requires humility and obedience.

What I learned in Week Two about knowing God through the #online #Biblestudy, "How to Come Before The King," by Danielle Lynn.....

My dear sweet Sisters in Christ…you are not your tasks/to-do lists, title, or talent. You are a child of The Most High God. This life of corruption, ambition, and performance died with Christ, and our true identity has been conceived, born, and is hidden in Christ with God. And there are no “divas” in God’s Kingdom. Our identity is birthed from the life and example of Jesus Christ who did not come to be served, but was called “Servant of all.” We no longer find our identity in what we are called or what we do, but what we do and who we are called derives from resting and thriving in the character we have been born into: humble servitude. Embrace this attitude of gratitude and servitude, and the divine doors of direction will manifest themselves.

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” ~Colossians 3:1-4

What I learned in Week Three about knowing God through the #online #Biblestudy, "How to Come Before The King," by Danielle Lynn.....

Last week was very good and interesting as it dealt with Pride and Arrogance. I want to start out by saying that throughout scripture, it is clear that know one who has truly "known" God has been called prideful or arrogant. Actually those who are full of pride and arrogance, tend to always be counted among His enemies, as Esther 3:10 states of our antagonist in this week's study.

That being said, one of the questions posed in our study caused me to consider some reasons why I have no right to be filled with pride. The one thing that resounds in my heart and mind after that question, and this lesson is this, "I am NOT THAT good!" None of us are so good that we are entitled to have others bow before us; or that we have the right to destroy those who don't honor us... or even our enemies. Only The Lord Almighty holds that power.

TRULY knowing our God means realizing that if HE forgives and overlooks, and is full of mercy and compassion, that this too should be our response to those who don't see us as the Ambassador of Christ we have been called to be.

I am so thankful for how humbling and challenging this study has been for me! It has truly brought to the surface all of the deep yearnings and thirst to be closer to truly knowing my Lord and God!

What I learned in Week Five about knowing God through the #online #Biblestudy, "How to Come Before The King," by Danielle Lynn.....

**BEFORE I get into Week Five, I want to say that I did NOT forget about Week Four. I intentionally left out Week Four because that week’s lesson spoke so deeply, and had such a profound and practical impact on me that I decided to talk about it in a separate post AFTER the study has concluded. So stay tuned about Week Four!**

On, to what I learned in Week Five. I will begin with the verse from the Study that caught my attention above all others, “So Haman went out that day joyful and with a glad heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, and that he did not stand or tremble before him, he was filled with indignation against Mordecai.” (Esther 5:9 NKJV) Let me retype the part that stopped me in my tracks, “but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, and that he did not stand or tremble before him...” Wow!

Haman has already declared complete destruction of the Jews because of this exact behavior on Mordecai’s part. Yet here Mordecai is again, knowing that his refusal to bow before this man would possibly be the cause of his death and that of millions of others, yet he STILL refuses to bow. WOW!

What do I get from this? Even when you KNOW you will suffer for doing what’s right, DO IT ANYWAY. TRUST GOD! You may lose your job, your reputation, your friends, family, and possessions. But pleasing God is always better than pleasing men/women. Knowing The Lord God means never fearing what men can do to us.

What I learned in Week Six about knowing God through the #online #Biblestudy, "How to Come Before The King" by Danielle Lynn.....

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way." ~Psalm 37:23

Last week's study showed me how walking closely with, trusting, and truly knowing God results not only in persecution at times, but ALWAYS means that even the most unassuming steps in our life are ordered by God to set us up for success. Knowing God means we can look back on every decision and see His hand and His handiwork working behind the scenes to bless our journey called life! PRAISE GOD!!
